Dashi privacy policy
Last updated 24 October 2026
Dashi is a Chrome extension that turns your bookmark folders into workspaces and includes an optional chat assistant. This page explains what data Dashi handles and where it goes.
Data that stays in your browser
Your bookmarks, workspaces, saved sessions, settings, page previews and chat history are stored only in your Chrome profile (in Chrome's extension storage). They are never sent to us.
Signing in
The chat requires signing in with Google. Google gives Dashi an ID token containing your Google account id, email address, name and profile photo. Dashi keeps it in your browser to show who is signed in, and sends the token to Dashi's server with each chat request. The server checks that the token is genuine and derives an anonymous user id from your Google account id. The server does not store your email address, name or photo.
Chat
When you send a chat message, Dashi sends the message, the earlier messages in that conversation and the text of any tabs, page selection or files you chose to attach, to Dashi's server. The server passes them to Soba, which delivers them to the AI you connected (for example the Claude or ChatGPT subscription or local model on your own computer) and streams the answer back. Dashi's server does not store your messages or their answers. Soba processes them under its own privacy policy.
Dashi reads a tab's text only when you attach it, or when you open Dashi beside a page and leave that page included.
What we don't do
- No analytics, tracking or advertising.
- We don't sell or share your data, apart from passing chat messages to Soba as described above.
- We don't use your data for anything except providing Dashi's features.
Removing your data
Sign out in Settings → Soba to remove your sign-in from the browser. Uninstalling Dashi removes everything it stored in your Chrome profile. To remove the machines you connected, disconnect them in the Soba app.
